Geelong Cup winner Leica Ding is now a 33/1 shot for the Melbourne Cup after being previously unquoted for the race.  The Mare is likely to recieve a big enough penalty for this win in the weights to scrape in at the last declaration stage for the Melbourne Cup.

The John Sadler trained eight year old Zipping has had support after finishing third in the 2009 WS Cox Plate. Zipping finished behind Manhattan Rain in second and winner So You Think, neither of whom have an entry in the 2009 Melbourne Cup.

European raider Profound Beauty just missed out on a place last year finishing fifth at 8/1 and looked like jostling for favourtism this time around before trainer Dermot Weld scratched him for the race due to concerns over the going.
