2006 Melbourne Cup Result

The Japanese stole the show in 2006 with a Melbourne Cup one-two for Katsuhiko Sumii. It was the Japanese trainer's second string Delta Blues that got the victory over the 5/1 joint favourite Pop Rock, but the pair were a good four lenghts clear of the rest of the field.

The best the European raiders could muster was a seventh place finish for Aiden O'Brien's Yeats who went off as an 11/2 chance in the betting.
